Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Meowdex, a mobile application developed and operated by Nap Coding. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Meowdex.

1. Who can use Meowdex

You must be at least 13 years old to use Meowdex. If you are under 18, you must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Meowdex is currently available on iOS. An Android version is planned for the future.

2. Your account

Meowdex supports Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google. Your account is linked to the email address provided by Apple or Google at sign-in.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at contact@napcoding.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Acceptable use — the Trainer's Code

Meowdex is built around photographing real cats respectfully. By using the app you agree to:

  • Never chase, disturb, or stress a cat to get a catch
  • Respect private property — do not trespass to photograph cats
  • Use the in-app flag to report any cat that appears injured or unwell
  • Not use the app to harass, stalk, or intimidate other users
  • Not attempt to manipulate, scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the platform

Violations may result in account suspension or permanent ban at our discretion.

4. In-app purchases and subscriptions

Meowdex offers optional in-app purchases including:

  • Cat Hunter Pro — a subscription providing unlimited treats, 2× XP, and exclusive cosmetics ($4.99/month or $39.99/year)
  • Treat packs — one-time consumable purchases (5, 15, or 30 treats)

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are subject to their respective terms. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your device's subscription settings before the renewal date.

Refunds are handled directly by Apple or Google, not by Nap Coding. To request a refund for an App Store purchase, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, use the Google Play refund process. We have no visibility into or control over refund decisions made by these platforms.

5. Cat rescue mission

Meowdex is developed by a small, independent team. Our goal is to direct a share of profits to cat rescue organisations as the app grows and becomes profitable. This is an aspiration, not a contractual commitment. Whether and how much we donate depends on the commercial success of the app. We will share progress transparently on our social media channels rather than making guarantees in these Terms.

6. Intellectual property

The Meowdex name, logo, app design, and all associated content are owned by Nap Coding or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of Meowdex without our prior written consent.

You retain ownership of any original photographs taken on your device. By uploading a cat cutout to Meowdex, you grant Nap Coding a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, use, and promote that cutout within the app, associated services, and marketing materials — for example, sharing cards, the Cat of the Day feature, and promotional content for Meowdex.

7. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains in full what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Key points: only the isolated cat cutout is uploaded (not the original photo); your GPS is fuzzed before storage; we do not sell your personal data.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Meowdex is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or that any particular cat will appear in your area.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Nap Coding shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Meowdex, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of catches, or any harm arising from following in-app location suggestions.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of Meowdex after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app where possible.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Nap Coding is registered. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
